Ring Size Guide

Methods to determine finger size

1. Borrow a ring - pay attention to the ring(s) your partner may wear frequently. Then bring a ring (or two if possible) to our store where we can measure it. And the most important thing? Don't get caught!

2. Imprint of a ring - using some plasticine or blue tac carefully take an imprint of the ring, ensuring it is done carefully so as to not leave any remnants of the plasticine in their ring.  We suggest maybe doing this when your partner is asleep or away.

3. Trace the inside of a ring - if you are concerned about being caught borrowing or making an imprint of the ring, an easier option is to draw a circle of the inside of the ring on a piece of paper. We would suggest doing this a few times to ensure the consistency of the tracing. From the circle you have drawn, we would be able to determine the diameter of the circle and thus the finger size.  This isn't as accurate a measure but it may be the safest way to prevent you getting caught.

4. Friend that is already engaged - If you know your partner's friends fairly well, you could potentially ask one of her/his engaged friends to find a way of getting your partner to try on their ring. This will aid in getting a rough idea of the finger size and also potentially find out from your partner's friend what style of ring would be of preference to them.

5. Ask family or friends - get in touch with family members or close friends if they have an idea of what the ring size may be.

6. Compare fingers - If your partner does not wear any rings or you do not have the opportunity to carry out the above investigations, you could try comparing the fingers on their hand relative to your own, and see if one of the fingers appears to be a similar size to that of yours. This method is the least accurate but it will aid in getting a ring as close as possible to the size required.

7. Ask your partner - If you and your partner have been together for a long time and he/she knows you have been thinking and talking about marriage for a while and are open about everything, including your partner choosing the exact ring you can ask them outright what size they are or visit the store together to get measured accurately. You then can decide when you would like to present the ring and how, thus still having an element of surprise.

For methods 1-3 keep a watchful eye as to which finger the ring is worn on and on which hand the ring is for as we are not symmetrically made. Very often our dominant hand is slightly larger.

If the finger size presented is incorrect we offer one free resize on most of our rings (within certain tolerances) within 30 days of receiving it. However there are a few exceptions to this, for example full eternity rings cannot be resized and must be ordered in the correct finger size.
